太史公曰：「《禹本紀》言：『河山崑崙，其高三千五百餘里，日月所於辟隱為光明也。其上有玉泉、華池。』今自張騫使大夏之後，窮河源，惡睹《本紀》所謂崑崙者乎？故言九州山川，《尚書》近之矣。至《禹本紀》、《山經》所有怪物，余不敢言也。」夫弗敢言者，謂之虛也。崑崙之高，玉泉、華池，世所共聞，張騫親行無其實。案《禹貢》，九州山川、怪奇之物、金玉之珍莫不悉載，不言崑崙山上有玉泉、華池。案太史公之言，《山經》、《禹紀》，虛妄之言。
